Doctor Who crossover - Don't Step On The Butterflies
Title: Don't Step On The Butterflies
Rating: PG for chibi nakedness.
Series: TCR, Doctor Who (Four'n'Sarah Jane, plus a brief cameo by Ten)
Disclaimer: Characters belong to the BBC and/or Viacom. Used without permission, but with love.

Based on the second TCR Global Edition opening, in which Stephen is not entirely clear on the concept of the International Date Line. Believing that he has time-traveled, he is so terrified at the possibility of accidentally messing up the timeline that he spends the weekend curled up in the hotel bathtub crying.

Then the TARDIS shows up in his hotel room.

I don't think there are words for how much I loved this. Thus begins Stephen's ridiculously large crush on the Doctor? Or did that start with Ten and the hedgehog!hair you captured so brilliantly. *grabby hands* PREQUEL, PLEASE! I want to find out how Stephen disturbed the timeline the first time. The only thing I can think of is a brief, horrific stint of Companion!"Stephen", which might be the best thing ever, especially if Captain Jack gets in on it.

...Sorry, that ended up coming out just plain greedy. But I honestly adore this; there just isn't enough 4 and Vintage Sarah Jane in the universe.

At this point Stephen doesn't get that Four and Ten are the same person, so no River-Song-style timeline-crossing emotional hijinks . . . yet.

Hedgehog!hair. XD

I imagine Ten showed up to do some routine temporal tourism, got sucked into whatever Evil Plot just happened to be unfolding around him, and then insecure-young-repressed-geek-"Stephen" stumbled in and started making an enthusiastic nuisance of himself. But I hadn't even considered the possibilities if Captain Jack gets involved. (Oh, those possibilities.)

This strip was very deliberately set up with hooks on which to hang prequels/sequels/prequels-in-one-person's-timeline-that-are-sequels-in-another's, so if you have more ideas, keep talking! Some of my best fics started with other pepole's bunnies (on top of being fanfiction to begin with). I'm leechlike that way =D

Awww! Not only is this adorable, but I am left wondering how Stephen first met the Doctor ...

Darnit, woman, you know how I feel about new plot bunnies. *sighs and starts preparing another hutch*

If you're looking for Who canon, I recommend starting with the 2005 series (usually "series 1" in torrents and the like). The writers don't assume you've seen any of the first 26 seasons, so you don't need any specialized knowledge to understand them. Once you've got the basic idea down, you can pretty much watch any of the old serials; the handout here picks out the best ones and tells you how to get ahold of them.

I only prowl the edges of the fandom, though -- reading recs, drawing the occasional silly crossover -- so I don't know what's worth approaching and what's utter drek. (I hear news of crazy ship wars, and I stay away.)

Stephen, fortunately, did not do anything; he just thinks he has more power than he really does =P

YAAAAAAAAYY!! \o/ Prequels and sequels with or without Jack and/or Jon would be A-ok with me!

. . . oh, geez, the fun I could have, bringing Jon into this . . .

*flaaaaaaaaaail*

I don't know anything about old Who, but I trust you to have Four and Sarah Jane in character. And and and. STEPHEN AND THE DOCTOR. Imagine Jon meeting the Doctor. Imagine JACK meeting Jon and Stephen. *flails more*

Anyway, yessss, I love this! I can't wait to see more!

They're an awesome pair; I can only hope I've done them justice.

As for who's going to meet who (or Who), and when, and at what points in their lives . . . you've hit on a couple of them, and there'll be a couple of surprises, and I'd better not spoil anything but I hope you'll enjoy them :D
