Trailer for "Expecting"
A movie-style trailer for the story I've been working on.

Partly because it was fun to make, and partly to demonstrate that I didn't pull the idea completely out of thin air.

It'll be fun. I promise.

Title: Trailer - "Expecting"
Series: The Colbert Report
Rating: G
Pairing: None (...yet)

Watch on YouTube (as long as it manages to stay up)
Watch on DailyMotion (ditto)
Download via badongo (.wmv, 11 MB)

That is just too good. :D The trailer cracked me up and looked great, and now I'm excited about the story.

Also, what song did you use? I could proabably listen to that on loop for a week or two and not tire of it. haha

Glad you approve; I'm really hoping I can predispose people to like this one (given that mpreg is a pretty common turn-off).

The song is "rondo of Lilybell (harpsichord ver.)" from the Victorian Romance Emma Second Act soundtrack Memories, which you can download here. Gorgeous music all around.

She left an approving comment on the YouTube version. Nice to know there's someone predisposed to like this story, instead of the other way around ^_^

Alas, yes. Fingers crossed that people will judge it on its own merits, because there is some really funny stuff to be done here...

HAHAHA!!!! Oh, how I love your crazy sense of humor. Slick editing job, too. Looking forward to the fic!

This was actually one of the easiest editing jobs I've ever done =)

Thank you!

But thank you! (I enjoy bad puns ^_^)

Wait, so it's coming tomorrow? :O I didn't realize you'd finished it.

*on edge of seat*
Erin Ptah: fake news in drag[info]sailorptah on July 4th, 2007 03:11 am (UTC)
Admittedly, I haven't finished it - but I'm well into the writing, I know where it's going, and I've never left a WIP in limbo, so have no fear.

And yes, the first part will be up in (*checks clock*) just under an hour ^_^

Ooooh, goodie.

Oh, and I enjoyed the trailer, btw. Ominous in a playful way.
Erin Ptah[info]sailorptah on July 4th, 2007 04:10 am (UTC)
Okay, so I have more to type than I thought. But it'll be up at some point today.

"Ominous in a playful way." I like that description. It feels like what I'm aiming for.

Oh...my...god. That was brilliant!! I cannot wait till the book comes out. LOL!!
Erin Ptah: rainbow jon[info]sailorptah on July 4th, 2007 03:12 am (UTC)
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the story as much as the trailer ^_^
The Corpse Bridesmaid: balls[info]darkfaery1 on July 4th, 2007 03:27 am (UTC)
I'm sure I will. I mean, how can that setup disappoint? Will you be posting it here exclusively? I've been in this fandom for about ten minutes, so I'm still trying to figure out the best places to be. I have so little fanfic reading time, I like to maximize it as much as possible.
Erin Ptah: rainbow jon[info]sailorptah on July 4th, 2007 04:07 am (UTC)
Four words - "rocks fall, everyone dies..."

I'll be posting both here and on the Colboard, with the occasional link to a batch of chapters (maybe once a trimester) from [info]tds_rps. There's an expanding number of "places to be" in this fandom; I just set up a fake news filter on my flist and watch a whole bunch of comms that way ^_^
The Corpse Bridesmaid: balls[info]darkfaery1 on July 4th, 2007 04:35 am (UTC)
Flist filter, who knew? I've only been on LJ for like, forever. Duh me. Thanks for the tip.

Four words - "rocks fall, everyone dies..."

Funny, that's how I planned on ending my current fic. I guess I'll have to think of something else. XD

Forgive me, I dont get to my computer as often as I'd like, so I always arrive at the commenting party late....
That trailer was amazing! And I second the great editing comment - you spliced together all of the remarks Stephen has made perfectly to fit the story line. Mpreg has never been a turn off for me - I could take it or leave it as long as the writing was good. But this one has me all excited now! Can't wait to read it :-D
Erin Ptah: eeeeexcellent[info]sailorptah on July 4th, 2007 07:21 am (UTC)
I am totally fine with late comments (even though it was only a day late). And your timing is very good; you showed up just in time to see the first chapter =D

Thank you!

I'd never seen a trailer for a fic before, and the novelty value just added to how much I like this one. Coming back to it, after the fic, is even more fun - I feel like I'm in on an inside joke.

Wonderful choice of music (and reminded me of rom-coms, so puts you in the right mood) and I loved your little text inserts ("and he's just had a very / very / very bad idea"); it felt like they were textured similarly to the bullet points on The Word, I don't know if that was intentional or not.

And fantastic editing. Even if I didn't like the story I think I'd have loved this, a little.
Erin Ptah[info]sailorptah on November 18th, 2007 02:05 pm (UTC)
This is the first one I've made; I think it's hard to do unless your canon has a lot of footage, that can be used flexibly.

Rom-coms? (Romantic comedies?)

I wasn't thinking of the Wørd, just of the normal pacing of a movie trailer, with clips from the film linked by text (or a narrator) to give a teasing summary; but I expect there was bulletian influence in it.

Thank you!
